One-Line Bio

Who am I? "You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world." --Tyler Durden

Biography

"Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.

Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream”

- The Beatles “A Day In The Life”

Hello all - I am currently working as an accountant and I am very interested in psychology and philosophy of mind. My passion is writing and I am considering returning to school to eventually teach and do research in the areas of developmental psychology, psychotherapy (CBT/MBCT), social anxiety and mindfulness. I'm interested in finding ways to help others overcome their struggles and suffering with a condition known as social anxiety disorder (SAD). I am an author on another blog called Anxious Living which deals with many issues surrounding living with social anxiety.

The title of my weblog mentions living an ‘integral’ life. What is integral? Integral means comprehensive, inclusive, whole, covering all the bases. A typical dictionary definition reveals its simplicity - essential to completeness, lacking nothing essential. In other words, it involves knowing our strengths and weaknesses, recognizing our potential and not totaling excluding anything. Integral approaches point out the many dimensions of our being and help to give a bird’s eye view of human development and potential. It is important because it can inform your daily life by allowing you to be aware of what you may be leaving out. To me an integral life means exploring and engaging in the many practices for body, mind and spirit that are available to everyone. I will be sharing with you my experiences with those practices as I attempt to live my iLife.

Several visionary authors like Huston Smith, Jean Gebser, Sri Aurobindo, Michael Murphy, George Leonard, Allan Combs and Ken Wilber have all presented to us integral paths and practices to engage our entire being in the many facets of the world we live in. It is up to us to embrace those practices and fulfill our potential.

Comments are always welcomed and I hope to share with you many days in my iLife - my attempt at an integral life.
